We are talking about Spiritual Gifts this month. They are a part of everyone’s God-Given design and function. Whether we use our gifts to God’s glory or not is up to us, but the Word says that they are given “without repentance”, meaning that God is not going to revoke or take them back from you (Romans 11:29).
We should present our bodies and our lives to God as our gifts to Him. After all, Jesus has made a way for us to be in right relationship with God and to have eternal life with Him! As far as I’m concerned, God can have whatever He wants! He does give us a will and the ability to choose if and how we give to Him. We can give our children candy, but they can decide if they want to share it. It is a blessing to see them give their gift to someone else who wants it.
The Bible lists several Spiritual Gifts.
I Corinthians 7:7
Gift of marriage or singlenesss (YES, it’s a gift!)
I Corinthians 12:1-11
Word of wisdom, Word of knowledge, Faith, Healing, Miracles, Prophecy, Discernment of spirits, Diverse tongues, Interpretation of tongues
Prophecy, Ministry, Teaching, Exhortation, Giving, Ruling, Mercy
Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors, Teachers
This month, we are praying and reflecting on our own spiritual gifts. You can also find the video for spiritual gifts on the prayer page “The Upper Room“.
